New Years Resolutions

I’ve had some pretty great years.  If 2010 was the year I moved to London and 2011 was the year I moved in with Dom, it leaves me to wonder where I'll move this year.  Regardless, I can only hope that 2012 will be a fraction as good as the previous couple.

Looking ahead, here are some things I hope to accomplish in 2012:

1.     Cook – I’ve gotten a little more into cooking and I’d like to continue working on my skills. I want to try out some new recipes and particularly work on cooking meat…steak and a whole bird are on my list.
2.     Get a promotion – Self-explanatory.
3.     Invest – I’m actually a pretty good saver, but I’m a poor investor. The problem is I don’t really know where to start but in 2012 I want to start somewhere. 
4.   Reach my Goal Weight – After 6 weeks of serious bingeing, it’s time to get serious. I don’t have to achieve my goal weight in January, but I do plan to kick-start by cutting out alcohol and sweets (all candy, desserts, chocolates, sugar in coffee, etc.) for the entire month. I have also bought 20 pilates sessions and am going to try out Cross Fit.  Anybody tried this and can comment?
5.     Focus on friendships – A new relationship and crazy travel schedule really cuts down on one’s free time. As a result, one of the areas I feel suffered last year was friendships. It's tough when your friends are suddenly spread all over the world, but I want to give this some special attention in 2012.

  1. I particularly like number 5.

    As for CrossFit, I've never done it but my cousin was telling me over the holidays how she started it in Austin and loved it so much that she ended up teaching it. And it works! You can also perfect those meat cooking skills if you do the Paleo diet, which apparently a lot of CrossFitters do.
