Leaving W10

I must be getting old because I'm finding myself rather sentimental as I'm packing up to leave W10, the post code where I reside in Notting Hill.  I gave it some thought and came up with a list of things I'll miss and things I won't as I move from zone 2 west to zone 2 east.

What I'll miss most:

  • My cute flat where I made my first home in London.
  • How nice the area is. It's kept up so well.
  • Fez Mangal, my favorite takeout upscale kabob shop at the top of the street.
  • My gym. I found a cool little personalized gym just around the corner and I don't think there's anything like it in all of London. I'm going to miss it.
  • The beautiful walk from my house to the tube. I love Oxford Gardens. Beautiful street.
  • Portobello Market.
  • All the cute cafes and pubs in short walking distance.
  • Easy access to two outstanding parks, Hyde Park & Holland Park.
  • Barlby Surgery (aka my doctor's office). I rate NHS pretty highly because of these guys.
  • The fact that I can get to Heathrow Airport in 45 minutes door to door.
What I wont miss at all:

  • The bus ride every morning to get to the train station that takes me to work. It adds 15-25 minutes to my commute. Annoying.
  • The Hammersmith & City Line. It's the tube line that runs through my nearest station, and it's basically worthless. Hence, the bus ride mentioned above.
  • The Jacksons (my roommates, refer here for juicy info) domestic disputes which have gotten rather intense as of late, given that MJ was responsible for finding them a place to live and failed miserably.
