Silent Disco

A couple Fridays ago I attended my first Silent Disco. And I’m now in love with this concept.

Here’s how it works:

  • Pick up a pair of headphones
  • Switch between two different stations playing two different kinds of music
    • In my case, one was rock and the other was pop / techno
  • Sing out loud and dance like crazy
  • Chuckle as you see the look on the bystanders faces who hear nothing but are witnessing a sea of people dancing to their own beat

It wouldn’t be fair to give all the credit to the silent disco as it really only made up about 20 minutes of an overall fun evening. The silent disco was inside the London Zoo. And on Friday nights in June and July, the zoo opens its doors to adults only for what they call Zoo Lates. From 6-10P, you can visit the animals while sipping champagne. We visited the butterflies, fish, lions and monkeys. You can also enjoy a picnic and get your face painted to resemble a zoo animal (and surprisingly, a lot of the adults did). There was a happy hour by the Penguin Beach and a Twisted Cabaret (bad comedy shows mixed with fat men and women stripping down to almost nothing). And of course….the silent disco. What an interesting evening!
