Christmas Markets Everywhere I Look

Europeans love markets and Christmas provides a good excuse for even more markets. Christmas markets are very popular and scattered all across Europe.  This year, I've hit up two in Germany and one in Belgium. Not bad for a newbie.

The German markets have become so popular that this year there was pretty serious evidence that they were targets for a terrorist attack. I've heard of several people cancelling plans as a result. Such a shame. The country took it seriously - just leaving my suitcase behind at the hotel for the afternoon required a thorough inspection from a gloved hotel porter. Luckily, nothing has happened....aside from a fire that broke out at an apartment building next to the Cologne market (seemingly unrelated).
