I went to Amsterdam for the first time this past weekend and I fell in love with it.  I love the scenery and architecture, the canals, the fact that people bike everywhere and that there are bike lanes throughout the whole town making that possible. I love the museums and history and the various markets. Oh, and I love the food (Dutch pancakes, tasty street food, Heineken & Amstel).

And finally, the people. The Dutch were just so warm and inviting. I even had clients treat me to drinks and dinner on Friday night.  Somebody even gave me a "lift" by letting me ride on the back of his bike, just like everyone else was doing! For me, the people were a welcome weekend change to the quiet, reserved English.

The first day, I woke up to several inches of snow which made for some beautiful pictures:

By the second day, it really cleared up:

Here's the house where Anne Frank and her family went into hiding:

The flower market & Van Gogh Museum:
This time around I skipped the red light district and some other famous extracurriculars. Maybe next time.  After a Friday of work followed by my weekend of exploring, I said goodbye to Amsterdam and headed to Germany.  I spent a day in Cologne and one in Heidelberg for work. Living the dream as they say!
